A Blackcurrant is a small dark color edible bitter-tasting fruit that grows on deciduous shrubs which prefer damp fertile soils. Blackcurrants grow in central and northern Europe and northern Asia, they are widely cultivated both commercially and domestically. Blackcurrants have a lot of vitamin C, they can be eaten fresh, but are mostly used in culinary recipes to make jelly, ice cream and pies.
