The Cherimoya is also called the custard apple, it is a sweet fruit that comes mostly from Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia. The fruit can weigh about 1 pound (0.5 kg), the inside of a Cherimoya is soft, and it is white in color. The tree it grows on can get up to 30 feet (9 m) tall but in cultivation is kept pruned to about 16 feet (5 m) to permit hand pollination of the 1 inch (2.5 cm), white, fragrant flowers. Cherimoya trees have long, elliptically shaped, light green leaves.
